"If you're not a little different, you're doing it wrong." Wise words from Kimberly Taylor, a guest speaker that was at my church this weekend. What a hoot. As soon as she said it, I immediately turned and looked right at her. If there was one thing during the whole message that I could relate to, that was

My first "real" blog..
Well since this is my blog, I guess I should take the opportunity to provide you with a little background information about myself. I started this blog to be uncomfortable, to push myself outside the box in hopes to discover who I am a little better. I do not do well with expressing myself so I thought maybe this will help. I am Jani Margarite D'Agnese, born on December 11, 1992 to David and Leslie D'Agnese. I attend college, and have no clue what I want to be when I grow up, since my loving mother always reminds me that there is in fact no actual job titled "Princess." Oh well. I live on the river only ten minutes away from the best beach in North Carolina. I am truly blessed, I have the most amazing church, and church family. I drive a black Jetta, Jay. I eat way too much fast food, and Sundrop is my weakness. I live in gym shorts and a t-shirt, but you wouldn't be able to tell that if you walked into my closet. oops. I grew up playing soccer, but once I got to 9th grade, I switched gears and became a cheerleader. Go Trojans. Everything I own is mostly pink, which is weird because my favorite color is purple, but that's neither here nor there. I listen to the weirdest arrangement of music (which drives the bff, and the bf INSANE) but I can't help it. I have a Yorkiepoo named Mumble, and he loves me very much...most of the time. There are so many people that are important to me, it would be impossible to tell you about them all, but here is a start. This will probably be the longest blog I ever post!
That's the family. My mother Leslie, my older brother Bobby (at his college graduation, go boob!) and my daddy David. Those three people have made me who I am today. I cannot say enough fabulous things about them. My parents have been married for 23 years, and still love each other like newlyweds. (yuck (: ) My brother is 22 and just recently got his first "big boy" job. I am so thankful and blessed to have all of them in my life, they keep me grounded..and fed. Thanks y'all.
These gals are my heart and soul. I'd be lost without each and every one of them. They are my absolute best friends. Seems impossible to have this many actual friends, but it's true.. Top: Corryn, Juls, Carl,Lauren, Elliott, and Ang.
Left: Danette Right: Haley -- All so beautiful!
Elliott, Danette, Ang, and Lauren are my cousins but we act more like sisters. We are always together and at every family function, beware. Silly doesn't even describe us when we get together. I have to say this, Ang is one of the few people who understand my sense of humor. I can always count on her for a good laugh as well. She is easily the funniest person I know. Corryn, Juls and Carl are my best friends from church. They keep me sane, grounded in the word, and accountable in my walk with Jesus. And Haley, my sweet Haley Enzor. My best friend through high school. She's always there for me and even if I have not seen her in a month or two, we can always pick up right where we left off! We stay in touch since she's in school at ECU and I can always count on her to make me laugh when I need it. She recently got into nursing school and I couldn't be more excited for her.
And this girl, Melinda Blair Little. Blairbear, "the blair", bff. My bestfriend since kindergarten. She knows everything there is to know about me. She can finish my sentences and she knows what I am trying to tell her through a simple look. We are always together. I mean ALWAYS. She is the one person who I tell everything to, and doesn't judge me for any of it. We share the same shopping addiction. She is girly, gorgeous and carefree. She teaches me how to live, and she always has my back. I cherish our friendship dearly.
Last, but certainly not least, this guy. Samuel Eli Hickman. I am not a very sappy person so I'll keep this short and sweet. September 23, 2011-- The night we met. I walked into his apartment with Haley (Thanks again!) and heard a "Hey Maggie" from across the room. I knew of him but I never actually met him until then. A few small conversations and a game of go fish and that was all it took, I fell in love with him. I have really met my match with Sam. He gets my sarcasm and sense of humor, and he is not afraid to throw it right back to me. We challenge each other daily. He lives 3 hours away, so seeing him every 2 to 3 weeks gets difficult but he always reminds me why it is worth it. He is the best person I know. I go to him for everything, and when I get caught up in myself he always reminds me we're on Gods time, not our own. He constantly reminds me we're a team. He knows my faults and weaknesses and loves me anyway. For that I will be forever thankful for him.

"blog"-- web log. hmm.. here goes nothing..
First blog ever...I'm not a writer, nor do I really know how I feel about this whole "blogging" sensation that is taking over my social media lately. Well, I guess I'll figure it out soon enough. I have never been a fan of things like this, but I have been having a hard time gathering my thoughts here lately, so out of desperation (and a great friends advice), I will rely on blogspot.com for some sort of organization...we'll see how long this lasts. Being a college student doesn't leave much time for relaxation, so this is my final attempt to find some sort of escape and reflect on my day.
I can't believe I'm about to say this: Let the blogs begin.
