Spending the day in Charleston!

So as you know from my latest post, yesterday was mine and Sam's anniversary, sort of. We don't really have an official dating anniversary, so we decided since we started seeing each other very shortly after we met, we would celebrate it on the 23rd. We had the best day. We took a day trip to Charleston, South Carolina to just get away and spend the whole day together. The weather was perfect, and fortunately there wasn't too much traffic or congestion. It only takes us about 2.5 hours to get there, and I tricked Sam into driving, so the actual trip to and from was not bad at all. We got there around 12:30 and wanted to just sit and grab a bite to eat before we started all that walking around. We knew that we wanted to eat somewhere fun and new for dinner, so we kept it light and just grabbed something quick at Wild Wings for lunch. After lunch we headed out to the Market, one of my favorite things to do there. If you've never been, it is a place were people set up like little vendors of things they  make, carve, jewelery, scarves, spices, anything! It is so fun just getting to walk through and experience it. Then after we made our way through the market we decided to walk to King Street to all the stores to do a little shopping. They have a big Forever 21, Victoria's Secret, J. Crew, Sunglasses Hut, Steve Madden, and all sorts of other great shops. Poor Sam, I know he wanted to shoot me, but he was such a great sport with all of this shopping. He didn't even complain once!

After we made our way through King Street we walked around and saw The Citadel, and The College of Charleston's gym. We were getting kind of tired of walking but we wanted to see a little more of Charleston, so we took a tour on a carriage. It was awesome. Sam was grinning from ear to ear listening to all the history. That lasted for about an hour, then we decided we were shopped out so we headed to find some dinner. Sam wanted to try A.W. Shucks- a raw oyster bar and seafood place. It was delicious, and I don't even care for seafood. I went out on a limb and tried a shrimp po boy, and Sam had the shrimp BLT. Both were fabulous. We will definitely going back to eat there when we travel that way again. It was so great, I bought one of their t-shirts. We spent the day laughing, and joking and enjoying each other's company. It was such a great break from reality. We don't get to get away just him and I much, so it was really awesome. He really did everything to make the day special, and that's exactly what it was.

Check out his sweet new shades. Best girlfriend ever? I think so.

What a hunk.

We will be going back soon. Also- If you love sports, Sam Hickman started a blog! Be sure to check it out!

Have a great Monday.
